ORDINANCE N0. 1385
AN ORDINANCE PERTAINING TO INTRODIICTION OF FOREIGN OB1T'ECTS INTO
CANTON I~
WHEREAS, Canton Lake is the municipal water supply for the
City of Canton; and,
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Canton to
prevent the contamination of said lake and also to preclude the
introduction of foreign materials into same.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows:
1. That the Canton City Council hereby finds the foregoing
recitals of conditions to be fact.
2. That it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or
corporation to introduce into the body of water known as Canton
Lake or any water course that flows, directly or indirectly, into
said lake any of the following materials:
(a) Sewage, treated or untreated;
(b) Discharge from any privy, cesspool, septic tank or
septic field;
(c) Industrial waste;
(d) Garbage, manure or petrescible material;
(e) Human excrement or urine;
(f) Poaionous substances;
(g) Dirt, clay, rocks or other solid material;
(h) Herbicide, pesticide or other chemicals;
(i) Lawn waste including leaves;
(j) Paint or paint remover;
(k) ~u~~sabstance that may render the water harmful to

(1) any substance that may render the water harmful to
animals;
3. It shall be unlawful ~to deposit any of the substances
listed in Section 2 hereof where such materials may be washed into
the lake or a water course flowing directly or indirectly into
said lake.
1,.. Any person, firm or corporation violating any provision
violating any provision of this ordinance shall be fined not less
than S5o.oo dollars nor more than $500.OU dollars for each
offense.
5. That Section 8-11-14 and Section 8-11-19 of the Canton
Municipal Code are hereby repealed.
6. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of
Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, and approval by the Mayor
thereof .
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
