AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 8, CHAPTER 18, SECTION 1 OF THE CANTON
MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO A GARBAGE SERVICE CHARGE
WI~REAS, the Streets and Garbage Committee has determined
that it is necessary and in the best interest of the City of
Canton to amend Title 8, Chapter 18, Section 1 of the Canton
Municipal Code to raise the municipal garbage service charge; and,
WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has made similar
determinations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows:
1. That the foregoing recitals are hereby found to be fact.
2. That it is necessary and in the best interest of the
City of Canton that its garbage service charge be raised by the
sum of $3.25 per month ($6.50 per billing period).
3. That, accordingly, Title 8, Chapter 18, Seetion 1 of the
Canton Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"8-18-1: SERVICE CHARGE: The Canton City Couneil hereby
establishes a service charge, to finance the establishment and
maintenance of plants for the collection and disposal or solely
for the collection or solely for the disposal of garbage, refuse
and ashes by a service charge of five dollars ($5.00) per month to
be collected from persons receiving such service."
5. That this Ordinance shall become effective immediately
upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois, and approval by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Ftiilton
County, Illinois at a regular meeting this _ day of
