AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR NO PARKING SIGNS IN THE 1500 BLOCK OF EAST
ASH STREET PROHIBITING PARKING FROM 7:00 A.M. - 9:00 A.M. AND 2:00 P.M.- 4:00
P.M. WHEN SCHOOL IS IN SESSION ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF ASH STREET, IN THE
CITY OF CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee has determined that due to the amount of
traffic surrounding Ingersoll Middle School, it is necessary and in the best interests of the citizens of
Canton, Illinois to place no parking signs in the 1500 block of East Ash Street, prohibiting parking on
the south side of the street, from 7:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on days when
school is in session; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has made a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows:
1. That signs shall be placed on the south side of the 1500 block of East Ash Street stating that
there shall be no parking from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on days
when school is in session, and that every driver of a motor vehicle will refrain from parking any
vehicle under his or her control in said area.
2. That any person who violates this Ordinance shall, upon conviction or plea, be subject to a fine
of not less than Twenty dollars ($20.00) nor more than Thirty-Five dollars ($35.00) for each
such offense.
3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days after its passage by the City
Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, approval by the Mayor thereof, and
publication in pamphlet form as provided by law.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 8
day of April, 2015 upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Gerald Ellis,Justin Nelson, Angela Hale, Craig West, Tad Putrich,
David Pickel
NAYS: None
ABSENT: Aldermen John Lovell,Jim Nelson
