ORDINANCE N0. 1433
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 8-12-4 AND SECTION 9-5-9A
OF THE CANTON MUNICIPAL CODE
WHEREAS, the City of Canton maintains Jones Park and is
aware of problems created by persons of various ages congregating
in and around said area engaging in unacceptable behavior; and,
WHEREAS, the new gazebo is the centerpiece of said park and
is one of the symbols of the City; and,
WHEREAS, it appears there are no valid reasons for
unauthorized persons to be in Jones Park after midnight and before
6:00 o'clock A.M. nor to park in the parking spaces facing said
park.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows:
1. Section 8-12-4 of the Canton Municipal Code is hereby
amended by adding the following:
rrNo person shall enter Jones park or remain therein from the
hour of 12:01 o'clock A.M. until 6:00 o'clock A.M.
2. Section 9-5-9a is added to the Canton Municipal Code as
follows
"It shall be unlawful to park any vehicle or to allow any
previously parked vehicle to remain in the parking spaces
located immediately adjacent to and facing Jones Park
between the hours of 12:01 o'clock A.M. until 6:00 o'clock
A.M."
3. That the Street Superintendent shall cause appropriate
signs to be posted.
!~. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of
Canton, Fulton County, Illinois and approval by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois this 16t1i day of August , 1994•
