HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #1430.4 t ORDINANCE N0. 1430 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 6, CHAPTER 1, SECTION 1 OF THE CANTON MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO THE SIZE OF THE CANTON POLICE DEPARTMENT. WHEREAS, the Negotiations, Grievance and Personnel Committee has determined that it is necessary and in the best interest of the City of Canton to increase the authorized size of the Canton Police Department; and, WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has made a similar determination. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows: 1. That the Canton City Council hereby finds the foregoing recitals to be fact. 2. That Title 6, Chapter 1, Section 1 of the Canton Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "6-1-1: DEPARTMENT CREATED; MEMBERS: There is hereby established an executive department of the City government which shall be known as the Police Department, and which shall consist of one Police Chief, three (3) police lieutenants, four (4) police sergeants, thirteen (13) patrolmen, one noncommissioned traffic control officer, one civilian administrative assistant, one noncommissioned code enforcement officer, and one secretary-file clerk. Part-time noncommissioned personnel may be used on an "as needed" basis to work as radio operators, but only to the extent that full-time commissioned officers are inadequate to meet such needs." 3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois and approval by the Mayor thereof. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 5th day of July 1994, upon a roll call vote as follows: AYES: Aldermen.Coay, Molleck, Phillips, Sarff, Meade, May, Chapman.
