ORDINANCE N0. 1424
AN ORDINANCE AIITHORIZING DEDICATION OF REAL ESTATE
FOR HIGHWAY RIGHT OF WAY AND PIIBLIC IITILITIES
WHEREAS, the City of Canton is in the process of
transferring fee ownership of Wallace Park and South Park to the
Canton Park District; and,
WHEREAS, West Walnut Street West from the intersection with
South Avenue D and South Avenue D South from said intersection are
located on the north and east sides, respectively of the tract to
be conveyed to the Canton Park District; and,
WHEREAS, it is desirable and necessary that the City of
Canton retain ownership of rights of way for the two streets in
the area involved; and,
WHEREAS, it appears that neither street right of way has
been formally dedicated for public use.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows:
1. That the Canton City Council hereby finds the foregoing
recitals to be fact.
2. That the following described tracts of land be and the
same are hereby dedicated for public uae as public streets:
Beginning at the Northeast Corner of Lot 1 in Block 4 in
Babcock~s Quality Hill Addition to Canton as platted
April 11, 1888. Recorded in Block 165, Page 101, also
known as document no. 93852 in the Fulton County
Courthouse, Fulton County, Illinois, thence Westerly
along the north line of the above mentioned Lot 1 26.0
feet; thence Southerly along a line parallel to the East
line of Babcock~s Quality Hill Addition to Canton 176.5
feet to a point on the South line and 26.0 feet West of
the Southeast corner of said Addition; thence Easterly
26.0 feet to the Southeast corner of said Addition;
thence Northerly along the East line of said Addition
176.5 feet more or less to the point of beginning. Said
tract contains 0.105 acres more or less.

The City of Canton, an Illinois municipal corporation hereby
dedicates to itself, as a municipality, for purposes of right of
way for public roadways and public utilities the following
described real estate:

Also part of the Northeast Quarter of Section 34,
Township 7 North, Range 4 East of the Fourth Principal
Meridian in Fulton County, Illinois described as
follows: Beginning at the Southeast corner of Babcock's
Quality Hill Addition to Canton, thence West 26.0 feet;
thence South parallel to the public road as located on
August 3, 1892 now known as Avenue D, 483 1 /2 feet to
the North line of what was known as the Van Winkle tract
of land; thence East 26.0 feet to the above mentioned
public road; thence North to -the place of beginning.
The North 60.0 feet of the following described parcel:
Lots 1 , 2, 3, 4 & 5, and the North 40' of the following
described parcel: Lots 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 in Block 4 of
Babcock's Quality Hill Addition to Canton, together with
that part of vacated Avenue E, formerly West Fourth
Street lying west of and adjoining Lot 10 and also North
of the South line of Babcock's Quality Hill Addition to
Canton, all situated in Fulton County, Illinois.

hereby directed to cause a certified copy of this Ordinance to be
filed with the office of the Fulton County Recorder of Deeds
immediately upon the passage and approval of this Ordinance.
4. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
immediately upon its passage by the affirmative vote of at least
three-fourths of the aldermen h olding office in the City of
Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, at a regular meeting this
5th day of April , 1994 upon a roll call vote as
follows:
AYES: Aldermen Coay, Molleck, Phillips, Sarff, Meade, May,
Chapman.
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: Alderman Bohler,
