AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 6, CHAPTER 4 OF THE CANTON MUNICIPAL
CODE BY ADDING SECTION 8 CONCERNING THE KEEPING, BREEDING, CARING
FOR AND POSSESSING CERTAIN BIRDS AND ANIMALS WITHIN THE CITY OF
CANTON, ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, the Canton City Council recently amended the Animal
Ordinance of this City; and,
WHEREAS, it appears that an additional provision is needed
for the protection of the citizens of this City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the
City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois as follows:
1. That Title 6, Chapter 4 of the Canton Municipal Code be
amended as follows:
"I. It shall be unlawful for any person to display in
public in the City of Canton any animal, bird or reptile which
will reasonably cause fear or apprehension of bodily injury in a
person of normal sensibilities.
This section shall not apply to animals, birds or
reptiles in confinement or in cages."
2. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of
Canton, Fulton County, Illinois and approval by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois, at a regular meeting this 17th day of
October , 1995, upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen May, Shores, Meade, Phillips, Sarff,
Hartford, Molleck,
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: Alderman Bohlen.
