HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance # 1940ORDINANCE NO. 1940 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A STOP SIGN ALONG EASTBOUND EAST VINE STREET AT THE INTERSECTION OF EAST VINE STREET AND ROYAL COURT IN THE CITY OF CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee has determined that it is necessary and in the best interests of the citizens of Canton, Illinois to place a stop sign along eastbound East Vine Street at the intersection of East Vine Street and Royal Court in the City of Canton, Illinois; and WHEREAS, the City Council has made a similar determination. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows: 1. That a stop sign shall be placed along eastbound East Vine Street at the corner of the intersection of East Vine Street and Royal Court and that every driver of a motor vehicle approaching said intersection from the West going East on East Vine Street shall bring the vehicle under his or her control to a complete stop before entering said intersection and shall only then proceed when a safe interval occurs in traffic. 2. That any person who violates this Ordinance shall, upon conviction or plea, be subject to a fine of not less than Seventy-five ($75.00) nor more than Five Hundred ($500.00) dollars for each such offense. 3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days after its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, approval by the Mayor thereof, and publication in pamphlet form as provided by law. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 5th day of August , 2008 upon a roll call vote as follows: AYES: ~-dermen Strandberg, Ihnes, West, Sarff, Schenck, NAYS: None .
