S ORDINANCE N0. 1469 AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING PARKING BY NON-RESIDENTS ON A PORTION OF THE NORTH SIDE OF WEST WALNUT STREET IN THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee of the Canton City Council has determined it is necessary, desirable and in the best interest of the City of Canton to eliminate parking by non-residents on a portion of the North side of West Walnut Street in the City of Canton; and, WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has made a similar determination. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows: 1. That the foregoing recitals are hereby found to be fact. 2. That parking is hereby eliminated and prohibited by non-residents on the North side of West Walnut Street for the first 500 feet west from Martin Avenue in the City of Canton, Illinois. 3. That all ordinances, or, portions of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby rescinded and repealed. /~. That residents of the area involved, i.e. those residing on the North side of Walnut Street in the first 500 feet west from Martin Avenue shall be able to park in said area provided their vehicles display the designated decal. 5. The Police Department shall, upon request, issue an appropriate identifying decal to residents abutting the area involved in the no parking ban. ~. t. ~ R ti 6. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days after its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, approval by the Mayor thereof, and publication in pamphlet form as provided by law. 7. That the Street Superintendent shall cause appropriate signs to be posted. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 20th day of June, 1995, upon a roll call vote as follows: AYES: Aldermen May, Shores, Meade, Bohler, Phillips, Sarff, Hartford, Molleck.
