WHERFAS, the City Clerk of the City of Ca�ton, Illinois,
has received a certified copy of an Order of the County Court of
Fulton County, Illinois, entered in the matter of the l�nnexation
of Certain Territory to the City of Canton, Illinois, on the /Z►�
d�y of ��/21�l , A. D. 1957; flnd
WHEREAS, said Order of said County Court found, among
other things, that the Petition filed for the annexation of said
territory confo rms with the Statute of the State of Illinois in such
cases made and provided, namely, A rticle VII of the City and �Tillage
Act of the State of Illinois ; and it was signed by a ma�ority of the
owners of record of the land and territory hereinafter deacribed,
and also sig#�ted by � ma�ority of the Electors residing in said
territory; that said territory was not within the corporate lim3ts
of any municipality and is contiguous to the City of Canton, Illi-
nois; said Order further ordered and d irected that the question of
annexation of said te rritory to the City of Canton, be submitted to
the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois, for final action
thereon; and
WHERFAS, the question of the annexation of said territory,
being considered by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois;
IT IS THEREFORE ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE

Section l. That the following described territory be
and it is hereby anrexed to the City of Canton, Illinois:
The proposed annexation all being in the South Half
of Section 28 and the North Ha1f of Section 33, both
being located in Township 7 North, Range 1�. East of
the Fourth Principal Meridian, both located in Fulton
County, Ill.inois. �aid annexation to be�in at a point
on the existin� corporation line of the Cit,y of Can.ton
80 feet North and 25 feet West of the Southwest corner
of Lot Number 16 of Babcock� s R,uality Hill Third Addi-
tion to the City of Canton, proceeding thence West 177.4 fest
to � point on the West line of Lot Number 18 of Rihard' s
Addition to the City of Canton; thence North 100 feet
to a point at the Northe�st corner of Lot Number 17 of
Rihard' s Adc3ition to the City of Canton; thence West
3�0 feet to a point at the Alorthwest corner of Lot Number

Section 2. That this decision of the Dity Council shall
be effective thirty ( 30) days aftE:r i.ts passage by a two-thirds
(2/3) vote unless within this thirty (30) day period a petition
is presented to the City of Cantori, Illinois, or unless a Referendum
thereon is ordered by the City Colz�r�cil of the said City of Canton,
Illinois, requestin� that the que:;tjon of' the annexation of the
above-described territory be submitted to the electors of the City
of Canton, Illinois.
