ORDINANCE NO. 15 2 2
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 9, CHAPTER 10, SECTION 2
WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee has determined that it is
necessary, desirable and in the best interest of the City of Canton to restrict parking in the
following areas in uptown Canton; and,
WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has made a similar determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows:
1. That the foregoing recitals are hereby found to be fact.
2. That Title 9, Chapter 10, Section 2 (D) of the Canton Municipal Code be
amended to read as follows:
"9-10-2 (D) 2: Parking spaces or stalls shall be marked and designated as
hereinafter set forth within the Business District, for the parking of motor vehicles, and
except as otherwise provided, it shall be unlawful for any person to park any motor vehicle
within any such parking spaces or stalls for more than two (2) consecutive hours between
the hours of nine o'clock (9:00) A.M. and five o'clock (5:00) P.M. of any week day
(excepting only of such national holidays as may be determined and promulgated by the
Congress or President of the United States). However, all day parking shall be permitted
in parking lots owned by the City for the use and convenience of the public for parking
motor vehicles therein, but it shall be unlawful for any person to park any motor vehicle in
any parking lot owned by the City between the hours of eleven o'clock (11:00) P.M. and
six o'clock A.M. on any day except for physicians on emergency calls.
9-10-2 (D) 10: The parking spaces or stalls, herein contemplated, shall be marked
and designated, in manner indicated, on and along the following streets and places, and
within the areas set forth, in this City, as follows:

On the West side of Second Avenue from the South curb line of Chestnut Street to
a point one hundred fifteen feet (115') South thereof, for head in perpendiculaz pazking.
On the South side of Elm Street between the east curb line of Main Street and the
West curb line of White Court (as extended) for diagonal parking heading in a
southeasterly direction and for pazallel parking (2 spaces) heading in a westerly direction.
On the east and west sides of Jones Pazk, North of the island area North of Elm
Street, for diagonal head in pazking towazd the park for a maximum of 3 hours.
On both sides of East Chestnut Street from the East side of Square (White Court)
to First Avenue for diagonal head in pazking for a maximum of 8 hours.
3. The remainder of Title 9, Chapter 10, Section 2 of said Canton Municipal code
shall remain unchanged.
4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its
passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois and approval by
the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, at a
regulaz meeting this 15th day of October , 1996 upon a roll call vote as follows:
