BE IT ORDAINED BY THF CITY COUIdCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTpN, ILLINOIS:
Section l. That Chapter XX3CUTIT, Section 5 of the Revised Ordinances:
of the City of Canton, Illinois, 1959, be and the same is hereby amended to read
as followss
nSection 5. CITY I�TTORI�'EY. The City Attorney shall receive an annua,l
salary of Three Thousand Eight Hundred Dollars (�3,800.00) and such other comp-
ensation as the City Council may provide.��
Section 2. That Chapter XXXVIII, Section 6 of the Revised Ordinances
of the City of Canton, I7_linois, 1959, be and the same is hereby amended to read
as follows:
"Section 6. SUPERI �,NDENT OF STREETS. The Superintendent of Street�
shall receive an annual salary of Five Thousand Six Hundred and Si�ty Dollars
(�v5,660.00).K
Section 3. That Chapter XXXVIII, Section 7 of the Revised Ordinances
of the City of Canton, Illinois, 1959, be and �he same is hereby amended to read
as follows=
"Section 7. CITY ET�1GI rR. The City Engirieer sha11 receive an annua.l
salary of Eight Thousand Two Hundred Dollars (�8,200.00).n
Section 1.�. That Chapter XXXVIII, Section 8 of the Revised Ordinances
of the City of Canton, Illinois, 1959, be and the same is hereby amended to read
as follows:
"Section 8. WATER APTD SFGdER DEPARTMENT. The Chief Operator at the
Water Treatment Plant sktall receive an annual salar,y of Six Thousand Do].lars
(�6,000.00).
The Chief Operator at the Sewer Treatment Plant shall rece3ve an
annual salary of Five Thousand Si.x Hundred and S3xty Dollars (�5,660.00).
Each operator at the Water Treatment Plant and the Sewer Treatment

The Cashier of the Wat�r and Sewer Department shall receive an annual
salary of Three Thousand Nine Hundred Sixty Dollars (y�3,960.00}. �
Each meter reader shall receive an annual salary of Four Thousand .

of the City of Canton, Illinois, 1959, be and the same is hereby amended to read
as followss

an annual salary of Five Thousand Six Hundred Sixty Dollars (�5,660.00).�r

The Public Comfort Station Custodian shall receive an annual salary of
Two Thousand Ctne Hundred Thirty Eight Dollars (�2,138.00)."

as follows:
. ttSection 11. FIRE I�PARTNIENT. The Chief of the Fire Department shall
receive an annua.l salary of Five Thousand Six Hundred Sixty Dollars (�,5,660.00);
th� Assistant Chief of the Fire Department shall receive an annua],. salary of Five
Thousand One Hundred Twenty-Two Dollars (�5,122.00),• �ach fir�man employed by the
City shall receive a monthly salary of Thr�e Hundred Twenty Dollars (�,320.00)
during the first three months of h3.s emp�.oyment and thereafter an annual �al�rry
of Four Thousand Six Hundred Two Dollars (�,I�,602.00). In add3.tion to the above
salary� each member of the Fire Department shall receive an annual clothing
allowance of Thirty Dollars (�30.00}.�

Section 8. That Chapter XXXVIII, Section 12 of the Revised Ordinances

of the City of Canton, Illinois, 1959, be and the same is hereby amended to read
as follows:
"Section 12. FOI,ICE DEPAHTMENT. The Chief of Police shall receive an
annual salary of Five Thousand Six Fiundred Siacty Dollars ($�5,660.00),; each Ser-
geant of Police shall receive an annual salary of Five Thousand Qne Hundred Twen-
ty-Two Dollars (�5,122.00}� each Policema.n employed by the City shall receive a
monthly salary of Three Hundred Twent,y Dollars (�$320.00) during the first three
months of his �mployment and thereafter an annual salar,y of Four Thousand Si.�c
Hundred Two Dollars ($l��602.00); each desk clerk employed by the City shall re-
ceive an annual salary of Three Thousand Seven Hundred Sevent,y-Eight Dollars
(v°�i3,778.00); awcil3ary �}�olicemen employed by the City shall be compensated for
the work the,y perform at the rate of $1.60 per hour. In addition to his salary,
each uniformed policeman (except auxiliary police) shall receive an annual cloth-
ing allowance of Fifty Dollars (�SO.UO).tt
Section 9. That Chapter X�tIIII, Section 13, of the Revised Ordinances
of the City of Canton, Illinois, 1959, be and the same is hereby amended to read
as followss
rrSection 13. SECRET�RY OF 2'HE MAYOR. The 5ecretary of the Ma,yor sha11
receive an annual salary of Three Thousand Five Fiundred Dollars (�3,500;00).��
Section 10. That Chapter XXXVIII, Section 11�, of the Revised Qrdinance�
of the City of Canton, Illinois, 1959� be and the same is hereby amended to read
as follow�;
"Section 14. LABORERS - OVERTII�?E. Laborers employed by the City in the
Street Department who are equipment operators shall be ecmpensated f'or the work
they perform at the rate of Eighty-Two Dollars (�82.00) for each week they perform
1�0 hours of labor; laborers �mployed by the City in the Street Department who are
truck drivers sha11 be compens�.ted for the work they perform at the rate of
3eventy-Eight Dollars ($78.00) for each week they perform 1�0 hours of labor, all

other extra laborers employed by the Street Department shall be compensated for
the work they perform at the rate of Fifteen Dollars and twenty cents (�15.20)
per day.

Laborers employed by the City in the Water and Sewer Department sha1l
be compensated for th� work they perform at the rate of Ei�hty-Two Dollars
(�82.00) for eaeh week they perform !�0 hours of labor; all other extra laborers
employed by the City in the Water and Sewer Department sh.all b� compensated for
the work they perform at the rate of Fift�en Dollars and twenty cents (�15.20)
per day.
In event any laborer works more than forty hours in any one week, he
shall receive overtime pay at the rate of ti.me and one-half for each hour he
works, which hourly rates shall be determined by dividing his weekly pay by
' forty.
Sect�on 15. That Chapter XXXVIII, Section l5 of the Revised Ordinanees
of the City of Canton, I1linois, 1959, be and the same is hereby amended to read
as followsa
"Section 15. CTA�E3A('xE DEPARTT�IEIVT. Each member of the Garbage Depart-
ment shall receive an annual salary of Four Thousand Four Hundred Ninety-Eight
Dollars (�1�,l�98.00}.►�
Section 16. This Ordinance shall be in ef�'ect on and after May l,
1960 and its passage by the City Council and approval by the Ma,yor.
Passed by the City Council and approved by the Mayor this o�� day
