ORDINANCE N0. 1505
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 8, CHAPTER 10, SECTION 6 AND TITLE 8,
CHAPTER 10, SECTION 7 OF THE CANTON MDNICIPAL CODE
WHEREAS, the Legal & Ordinance Committee has determined that
it is necessary and in the beat interest of the City of Canton to
amend Title 8, Chapter 10, Section 6 and Title 8, Chapter 10,
Section 7 of the Canton Municipal Code; and,
WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has made a similar
determination.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY CODNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows:
1. That the City Council hereby finds the foregoing
recitals to be fact.
2. That Title 8, Chapter 10, Section 6 shall be amended to
read as follows:
"8-10-6: Payment of bills: Said rates or charges for the
services shall be billable bi-monthly and payable on the
10th day of the month following the month of billing. The
owner of the premises shall be liable to the City to pay
for the service to such premises provided, hgwever, the
said owner may require the tenant to payrefore but the
primary liability shall not shift from t owner to the
tenant. In addition to the owner the occupant thereof or
the user of the service shall be secondarily liable to pay
for the service to such premises. All bills for service
shall be billed bi-monthly no later than the last day of
the billing month and shall be payable not later than the
close of business on the 10th day thereafter following. If
payment of the full amount of the bill is made after said
10th day a penalty of 10~ of the amount of the bill should
be added to the amount of the outstanding balance.
8-10-7: No water shall be turned on for use in or upon any
premises until an application therefore in writing has been
made for that purpose and filed with the City Water
Department stating the purpose for which the water is to be
used. In all instances the owner of the property shall be
responsible for payment to the City for the water service to
the premises.

3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect
immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of
Canton and approved by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton
County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 18th day of
June , 1996•
