BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCII, OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS; that: Section l. DEFINITION-LICENSE REQUIRED. It shall be un- lawful for any person, firm, or corporation r�siding outside the corporate limits of the City of Canton, Illinois, to engage in business in the municipality of Canton, Illinois, as a building contractor without first having obtained a license an.d furnishin bond therefore as hereinafter provided. The term "building contractor" shall mean and include any- ane engaged in the business of cement or concrete contractinq, either flat, form or wall work; or as a masonry contractor;or as a carpenter contr�ctor; or �s a general buildin� co8tractor; and any person, firm or corporation engaged in the con�struction,_ alteration or repair of buildings or other atructures, or side- walk or street pavements. Engaging in the construction, repair or alteration of any building, structure, or street or sidewalk pavement in the muni- cipality for which a permit is required under the ordinances of the municipality shall be construed as doing business as a con- tractor in the municipality. Section 2. FEES. The annual fee for such license shall be : For concrete or cement contractors �25.00 per year; For masonry contractors �25.00 per year; For carpenter contractors �25.00 per year; For electrical, plumbing, roofing,painting and all other building �rade contractors other than gen- eral contractors �20.00 per �ear;and For �eneral contractors �100.00 per year; provided that any person having a general building contractor' s license shall not be required to secure an additional license for the performance of carpentry, masonry, or cement work. Section 3. �UBCONTRACTORS. Any person doing business as a subcontractor shall be construed as engaged in the business of a building contractor for which a license is required by this ordinance. Section 4. BOND. Each such contractor, at the cime he makes application for a license as above is set forth, shall �iv a bond in the amount of � �vc9 , with good an.d sufficient s +�,urety. thereon, conditiane�l that th:; maker shall save harmless defeadand indemnify the City of Canton against or on accoun.t ot� accidents, damages or claims arisin� out of or during ang con- � struction hereinbefore recited, which bond shall run concurrentl with his or its license. Provided , that the termination of said license shall not release any liability that occurred or which existed at any time during the term of said license. Section 5. REGULATION. It shall be the duty of all build ing contractors to comply with all ordinances relating to build- ing permits and with all ordinances relating to the con�truction of buildings or other structures, to the construction of streets or sidewalk pavements, and all laws or ordinances pertaining to or regulating the activities engaged therein. � I � � +:v ..,y` � � G�� • • � � : i Section 6. REVOCATION. Any building contractor's licens may be revoked by the mayor for � violations of any ordin— ance relatin� to the construction of buildings, the use of streets, or the replacing of streets, sidewalks or parkways, or any other ordinance relatin� to the work performed by such con— tractor. Such revocation may be in addition to any fine imposed for violating this ordinance. , Section 7. PENALTIES. An9 person, firm or corporation violating any provisions of this ordinance shall be fined not less than Five Dollars ($5.00) nor more than Two Hundred Dol— lars (�2(JQ.00) for each offense ; and a separate offense shall be deemed eommitted on each day during or on which a violation occurs or continues. Section 8. APPLICATION FOR LICENSE. Application for such licenses shall be made through the City Clerk to the Mayor of the City of Canton, and the bond hereinbefore referred to shall be deposited with said City Clerk at the same time the license is �ranted. Section 9. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordin�nce �hall be ia full force and effect from and after its passage, approval by the Mayor, and publication according to law.
