Wx.EREAS, it ha� come to the attention of the City Coun�i
of th� Ci�y of Canton, Illinois, that certain persons, both in-
fants and adults, are �$ing portions of Lake Canton for the pur-
pose of skating, sliding, aoasting and playing oa the ice of
eaid lake;
AND WHER�AS, it appears to the Co�ncil that such use of
the lake is detrimental to the health and �afety o� per,aoas sa
usi,ng said lake and the ice thereon;
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS; That
Section 1. It shall be uinlawful for any person to skate
slide, coast or otherwise pla� upon the ice of ,�aid lake, or at-
tempt to use the ice for any purpose whatsoever, except cn that
part of the lake described as follows:
All of that part of the Northeaster part of
said Lake Cantvn 19ing East and North of a straigh
line drawn from a point on the We�t side of
�Couth �.Qres ;prop�t�y and � the most distant
point South on said propert�, thence running
northeasterly to a point on the tip o� the
pro�ection of land extending cut into the
said lake, on the West and South side of
Beecham's Bay;
which ice on said waters may be used for purposes herein thi�
pa�graph is set forth, at such times as the ice i$ of suffiaien
thiCkuess to support people on said ice.
Section 2. Any person convicted of an� violation of
this Ordinance shall be fined not less than Five ($5.40) Dol-
lars nor more than Two Hundred (�200.00) Dollars.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect from and after its passage by the �ity Coun.cil, approval
by the Mayor, and published according to law.
PAS ED, by the City �ouncil and approved by the Mayor
this day of January, 1964.
