WHE&EAS, on the 20th day of May A. D. 1947, under the
terms and provisions of Ordinance Number 35, dulq enacted by the
City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois, the said Council
did suthorize and establish a systea� for the collection and dis-
posal of garbage in said City; and
WHERE�S, on the 1$th day of December A. D. 1951 , the
City Co�uncil af said City vnder the terms and provisions of
Ordinance Number 142 did establish a rate limitation of .073�
of the full, fair, casbr value as equalized or assessed by the
Department of Revenue of the State of Illinois on all tax.�ble
propertq in the said City of Canton, Illinois, to be u�ed
solely for the establishment and maintenance of �he systems and
plants for the collection and disposal of garbage, refuse and
ashes of said City, which said rate limitation was in effect oa
Januarq 1 , 1965; and,
WHEREAS, the S�atutes of the State of Illinois, now
provide that the City Council of said City may increase said
rate limitation but not to e�cceed .04�; and,
G�HER�AS, the present taxes are not sufficient to properly (
maintain and operate the said garbage system, !
THEREF'ORE BE IT OR.DAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF �HE CITY OF
CANTON, I�LINOIS: '
Section 1 . That the present tax rate limitation of �
.073�� of the full, fair c�sh value, as equalized or assessed �
by the Department of xevenue of the State of Illinois, on all
taxable property in the City of Canton, Illinois, to be ussd
solely for the maintenance of systems and plants for the col-
lection and disposal of garbage, refuse and ashes in said C3ty
be, and the same is hereby increased .01��.
Section 2. That the City Clerk of said City be and she
is hereby directed to sead a certified copp of this Ordinanee to
the County Clerk of Fulton County, Illinois.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall be in effect after
its passage by the City Council and approval by the Mayor.
