ORDINANCE N0. ,�%5�
WHEREAS, the City of Canton, Illinois has heretofore
authorized and established a fire protection system in said City
and has heretofore authorized an d established a tax rate limitation
for the maintenance and support thereof ; and,
WHEREAS, the present taxes are not sufficient to properly
mai.ntain and operate the said fire protection system; and,
WHEREAS, the Statutes of the State of Illinois now provide
that the City Council of said City may increase said rate limitation
but not to exceed .15%,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE GITY COUNCIL OF THE
GITY OF CANTON� ILLINOIS :
SECTION 1. That the present tax rate limitation on the
full, fair cash value, as equalized or assessed by the Dept of
Revenue of the State of Illinois, on all taxable property in the
City of Canton, Illinois, to be used solely for the purpose of
fire protection in said City, be, and the same is hereby increased
from the present tax rate limitation to the tax rate of .15%.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk of said City be and she
is hereby directed to send a certified copy of this Ordinance
to the County Clerk of Fulton County, Illinois.
SECTION 3. This Ordinance shall be in eff ect after its
passage by the City Council and approval by the Mayor.
