ORDINANCE N0. 3�
WHERF.AS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois
has determined that it is necessary and to the best interests
of said Cit� to provide additional revenue for the purpose of
police_ protection in said City; and,
-- WHEREAS, the Statutes of the State of Illinois now provide
that the Gity Council of said City may levy, annually, a tax not
to exceed .075/o for s�.ch purpose�
NOW� THEREFORE� BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE GITY OF CANTONy ILLINOIS :
SECTION l. That a tax of .05% of the value, as equalized
or assessed by the Dept. of Revenue of the State of Illinois, of
all taxable property in the City of Ganton, Illinois be, and the
same hereby is imposed to be used for the sole purpose of police
protection in said City.
SEGTION 2. That the tax herein imposed shall be in
addition to and in excess of all taxes authorized by law to be
levied and collected in said City and in addition to and in excess
of the amount authorized to be levied for general purposes.
SEGTION 3. That the Gity Clerk of said City be, and she
is hereby directed to send a eertified copy of this Ordinance to
the Gounty Clerk of Fulton County, Illinois.
SECTION 4. This Ordinance shall be in effect after its
passage by the City Council and approval by the Mayor.
