' . a . , ` ORDINANCE N0. --37� AN ORDINANCE RE�ULATING THE MOVEMENT OF TRUCKS WITHIN THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS . BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS : SECTION l. That all trucks travelin� within the City of Canton , Illinois shall confine their movement within the City upon State Routes , except as hereinafter provided. SECTION 2. This restriction shall not apply to trucks normally classified as one ton maximum and having not more than two axles. SECTION 3. Subject to the exception set forth in Section 4 hereafter following, all other trucks larger than those specified in Section 2 hereinabove shall be permitted off State Routes within the City of Canton only for the purpose of making local delivery and when such local delivery is made, said truck leaving said State Route for t he purpose of making local delivery shall leave said State Route to provide the shortest route from the State Route to the point of local delivery, traveling, if possible, on hard surface streets, and shall return after making said local delivery by the same route to the State Route. SECTION 4. Notwithstanding anything hereinabove to the contrary contained, trucks may enter the City of Canton from a southerly direction on West Hickory Street but shall be required to turn therefrom at its intersection wit�h�,�uth Main Street and to thence proceed w�� on South Main Street to liFeart. Linn Street and thence East on '�' Linn Street to its interconnection with St ate Routes. SECTION 5. This Ordinance is deemed necessary f or t he health, safety and welfare for the citizens of Canton, Illinois . SECTION 6. That the proper officials of the City shall post signs informing persons of this Ordinance. SECTION 7. Any person, persons, firm or corporation violating any provision of this Ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not less than �5.00 nor more than $200.00. SECTION 8. That this Ordinance shall be in effect ten days after its passage by the Council, approval by the Mayor and publication according to law.
