HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #358ORDINANCE NO. �;ri Head: Council 10/5/71 � Laid over AN ORDINANCE REGULATING TRAFFIC AND PLACING LOAD WEIGHT LIMITS IN THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1. That a stop sign shall be posted at the Southwest corner of the intersection of West Walnut Street and South Avenue D in the City of Canton, Illinois and, whenever a driver of a vehicle shall approach South Avenue D, while traveling East on West Walnut Street, he shall bring his vehicle to a complete stop and then proceed with caution when a safe interval occurs. SECTION 2. That no motor vehicle shall be parked (as defined by the Ordinances of the City of Canton, Illinois) on the North side of West Walnut Street between the West curb line of South Avenue D to the bridge over Big Creek. SECTION 3. No motor vehicle having a weight of 8,000 pounds or over, whether loaded or unloaded, shall be operated on Seventeenth Avenue in the City of Canton, Illinois between East Walnut and East Chestnut Streets in said City; provided, however, this provision shall not apply to emergency vehicles or vehicles making pickups or deliveries. SECTION 4. Any person found guilty of a violation of this Ordinance shall be subject to a fine of not less than Five dollars ($5.00) nor more than Two hundred dollars ($200.00). SECTION 5. This Ordinance shall be in effect ten days after its passage by the City Council, approval by the Mayor and publication according to law.
