WHEREAS it appears to the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois, that the territory hereinafter described is not within the corporate limits of any municipality, but is within 1� miles of the City of Canton, Illinois, and therefore the City of Canton, Illinois, has the power and authority to regulate zoning; and WHEREAS it further appears to the said City Council that all the electors residing in said territory hereinafter described and the owners of record of all the land within said territory have requested that the zoning be changed from Conser- vation Area to Commercial or a B -2 type Business; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS: Section 1. That the territory described as follows: 2.75 acres, more or less, beginning at the Northwest corner of the South Half of Section 28, Township 7 North, Range 4 East of the Fourth Principal Meridian, Fulton County, Illinois, thence South along the West line of said South Half of Section 28, Township and Range aforesaid, to the South right -of -way line of State Route 9; thence running East 617 feet along said right -of -way line to the point of beginning; thence running South 600 feet, thence running West 200 feet, thence running North 600 feet to the South right -of -way line of State Route 9; thence running East along said right -of -way line to the point of beginning, BE AND IT IS HEREBY ZONED B -2, BUSINESS, constituting rezoning from Conservation Area. Section 2. That the comprehensive plan for Canton, Illinois, pre- pared by Scruggs & Hammond, Inc., on July 14, 1969, and subsequently adopted by the City of Canton, Illi- nois, by ordinance, be amended in conformity with the provisions of this ordinance. Section 3. That this ordinance shall be in effect from and after a two- thirds "aye" and "no" vote of the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois, and approval by the Mayor. PASSED by a two- thirds "aye" and "no" vote of the City Council and approved by the Mayor this 3d day of August, 1971.
