ORDINANCE NO.
WHEREAS, it appears to the City Council of the City
of Canton, Illinois, that the territory hereinafter described
is not within the corporate limits of any municipality but is
contiguous to the City of Canton, Illinois; and
WHEREAS it further appears to the said City Council
that all the electors residing in said territory hereinafter
described and the owners of record of all the land within said
territory have requested that it be annexed to said City, as
shown by the records of this Council;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That the territory described as follows:
Tract Three (3) in the platted subdivision
of the North One -Half (NI) of the North-
east Quarter (NE4) of Section Fifteen (15),
Township Seven (7) North, Range Four (4)
East of the Fourth Principal Meridian, situ-
ated in the County of Fulton and State of
Illinois, EXCEPTING:
That part of Tract 3 lying North and West
of the public highway, and also EXCEPTING
a parcel of land in the Northeast corner
of said Tract 3 of said subdivision, de-
scribed as follows: Commencing at an iron
pin 1028 feet West of the Northeast corner
of the Northeast Quarter of said Section
15, running thence South 421 feet to an
iron pin, thence West 208 feet to an iron
pin, thence North 421 feet to an iron pin,
thence East 208 feet to the place of be-
ginning, containing 2 acres of land; ALSO
EXCEPTING: 3.1 acres of even width off
the North side of said Tract 3, more parti-
cularly described as follows: Beginning
at an iron pin at the Northwest corner of
the Carl Williamson land, said iron pin
being approximately 1236 feet West of the
Northeast corner of the Northeast Quarter
of said Section 15, running thence South
421 feet to an iron pin at the Southwest
corner of said Williamson land, running
thence due West to the Easterly Boundary
of Route 78, running thence Northeasterly
along the said East Boundary of said Route
78 to the South Boundary of a public high-

way running along the North side of said
Williamson land, running thence due East
to the place of beginning; ALSO EXCEPTING
that part deeded for highway purposes.
Also, that part of the North half of the
Northeast Quarter of said Section 15 bounded
and described as follows: Commencing at a
point 83 feet West of the Northeast corner
of said North half, running thence West
945 feet to an iron pin, thence South along
a hedge fence to an iron pin on the South
line of said North half, thence East 945
feet, thence North 1335 feet to the place
of beginning, also described as Tracts 1
and 2 in survey of said North half, the
plat thereof recorded in Volume 3 of Plats,
page 1, as Document No. 200738, in the Re-
corder's office of Fulton County, Illinois.
Also, 1.50 acres in part of the North half
of the Northeast Quarter of Section 15,
Township 7 North, Range 4 East of the
Fourth Principal Meridian, Fulton County,
Illinois; being that portion of said sec-
tion lying between the land now owned by
W. G. Fennell, and the right of way of
the C. B. & Q. R. R. Company,
all situated in the County of Fulton and
State of Illinois,
BE AND IT IS HEREBY ANNEXED to the City of Canton,
Illinois.
Section 2. The City Planning and Zoning Commission having,
after proper notice and hearing, recommended in
writing that the above lands be zoned B -2, Busi-
ness District, IT IS FURTHER ORDAINED that said
lands be and the same are hereby re -zoned from
R -1, Residential, to B -2, Business District.
Section 3. IT IS FURTHER ORDAINED that a certified copy of
this ordinance, together with an accurate map
of the territory above described, shall be re-
corded with the Recorder of Deeds, Fulton County,
Illinois.
PASSED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, APPROVED BY THE MAYOR, AND IN FORCE
AND EFFECT THIS third day of August, 1971.
