HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #338Read: Council X44/71 Laid over ORDINANCE NO. 4�- ,5 2,y AN ORDINANCE RESTRICTING PARKING IN RESIDENTIAL AREAS. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1. That no truck or camper shall be parked (as defined by the Ordinances of the City of Canton, Illinois) on any street in the residential district of the City of Canton, Illinois, except as hereinafter provided. SECTION 2. This restriction shall not apply to trucks normally classified as one ton maximum and under, and having not more than two axles. SECTION 3. That the word "truck" as herein used shall mean: Every motor vehicle designed, used or maintained primarily for the transportation of property. SECTION 4. That the word "camper" as herein used shall mean: Any recreational motor vehicle designed, converted or equipped and used for living quarters or for human habitation, rather than for the transportation of freight, goods, wares and merchandise. SECTION 5. That the words "residential district" as herein used shall mean: The territory contiguous to any street which is improved primarily with residence buildings. SECTION 6. That the words "motor vehicle" as herein used shall mean: Every vehicle which is self - propelled or which is designed to be drawn by a vehicle which is self - propelled. SECTION 6. That any person who shall be convicted of a violation of any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not less than $5.00 nor more than $200.00. SECTION 7. This Ordinance shall be in effect ten days after its passage by the Council, approval by the Mayor and publication according to law.
