WHEREAS, it appears to the City Council of the City
of Canton, Illinois, that the territory hereinafter described
is not within the corporate limits of any municipality but is
contiguous to the City of Canton, Illinois; and
It further appearing to the said City Council that no
electors reside in said territory hereinafter described and that
the owners of record of all the land within said territory have
requested that it be annexed to said City as shown by the records
of this Council.
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That the territory described as follows:
A part of the Northwest Quarter (NW 1/4) of Section
Three (3), Township 6 North, Range Four (4) East
of the Fourth Principal Meridian, more fully described
as follows:
Beginning at a stone located in the Northeast corner of
said Northwest Quarter (NW 1/ 4), thence South 2 50. 7
feet to the corporation line as shown on the Plat recorded
in Volume 667 at Page 133 and 135 of the Land Records of
Fulton County, thence West 323 feet along said corporation
line, thence North 250. 7 feet to the center line of Cedar
Street, thence East 323 feet, more or less, to the place
of beginning,
ALSO, beginning at a point 577. 5 feet South of the stone
located at the Northeast corner of said Northwest Quarter
(NW 1/4), thence West 322 feet, thence South 600 feet, thence
East 322 feet, thence North 600 feet to the place of beginning,
be, and it is hereby annexed to the City of Canton, Illinois.
Section 2. That a certified copy of this Ordinance
together with an accurate map of the territory above described
shall be recorded with the Recorder of Deeds of Fulton County,
Illinois.
Section 3. That this Ordinance shall be in effect from
and after a two - thirds "aye" and "noe" vote of the City Council
of the City of Canton, Illinois, and approval by the Mayor.
PASSED by a two - thirds "aye" and "noe" vote of the
City Council and approved by the Mayor this _Lday of May,
1971.
