WHEREAS, it appears to the City Council of the City of
Canton, Illinois, that the territory hereinafter described is not
within the corporate limits of any municipality but is contiguous
to the City of Canton, Illinois; and
It further appearing to the said City Council that all the
electors residing in said territory hereinafter described and that
the owners of record of all the land within said territory have requested
that it be annexed to said City as shown by the records of this Council.
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That the territory described as follows:
A part of the Southwest Quarter of Section 35, Township
7 North, Range 4 East of the Fourth Principal Meridian
and a part of the Northwest Quarter of Section 2, Township
6 North, Range 4 East of the Fourth Principal Meridian.
A more detailed description is as follows:
Beginning at a point at the Southeast corner of the inter-
section of South Fifth Avenue and Sam Scott Street in the
City of Canton (said point being located as follows:
Beginning at the center of Section 34, Township 7 North,
Range 4 East of the Fourth Principal Meridian and running
thence easterly along a base line, a distance of 2645. 0 feet
to a point in the intersection of Linn Street and Fourth
Avenue in the City of Canton, Illinois, said point being a cross
in the concrete pavement and referenced by ties as shown
on the attached plat, said base line for the convenience of
the description herein is assumed to run in a due east and
west direction and all bearings and courses hereinafter
described are from the aforesaid point in the intersection
of Linn Street and Fourth Avenue; running thence North 89°
43' East 395. 0 feet Ao -a °point, said point being on the center
line of proposed State Bond Issue Route 78, Section 135X at

feet; thence South 0044' West 1210. 32 feet; thence
East 22. 4 feet to the Point of Beginning.
From the Point of Beginning, running thence
Southwestwardly on a curve concentric to the
center line curve of State Bond Issue Route 78,
Section 135X, having a radius of 1548. 06 feet;
for a distance of 448. 1 feet; thence South 25042'
West 193. 69 feet; thence southwestwardly on a
curve concentric to the center line curve of State
Bond Issue Route 78, Section 135X having a radius
of 1468. 06 feet for a distance of 638. 31 feet;
thence West to the East right of way line of the
C. B. & Q. Railroad, thence North along said East
right of way line of the C. B. & Q. Railroad to the
South line of Sam Scott Street extended, thence East
along the South line of Sam Scott Street to the place
of beginning. )
be, and it is hereby annexed to the City of Canton, Illinois.
Section 2. That a certified copy of this Ordinance together
with an accurate map of the territory above described shall be
recorded with the Recorder of Deeds of Fulton County, Illinois.
Section 3. That this property shall be zoned B-2
commercial in accordance with its present use.
Section 4. That this Ordinance shall be in effect from and
after a two - thirds "aye" and "noe" vote of the City Council of the
City of Canton, Illinois, and approval of the Mayor.
PASSED by a two - thirds "aye" and "noe" vote of the
