HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #410q First Reading 2/6/73 - Laid over ORDINANCE NO. # .0/ BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS: Section 1. That paragraph 2. of Section 21 -A of Chapter XLV of the "Revised Ordinances of the City of Canton, Illinois, 1959, be amended to read as follows: 112. PLANNING COMMISSION. The Planning Commission shall consist of fifteen members(instead of eleven members as heretofore provided. These members shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by the corporate authorities, on the basis of their particular fitness and competency for their duties on said Commission. They shall reside within the City or within territory thereto contiguous and not more than 1 1/2 miles hey6nd the corporate limits thereof and not included in any other municipality. At least one member shall reside in such contiguous territory. Successors to members whose terms expire the first Tuesday in May, 1973 shall be appointed for a term of five years as heretofore provided; in addition thereto, a member shall be appointed on the first Tuesday in May, 1973 to serve for each of the terms of one, two and three years, respectively. Successors to each m'mber whose term expires on the first Tuesday of May of each year thereafter shall be appointed to serve for a term of five years. The membership of the Planning Commission shall include three members of the City Council to serve concurrent with their terms of office on the Council. These members shall be appointed by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by the corporate authorities." Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect on the first Tuesday of May, 1973 following its passage and approval by the Mayor.
