(AN ORDINANCE AMIIVDING ORDINANCE N0. 282 (ESTABLISHING A BETTE
COMMTSSION FOR THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOTS) TO PRUVIDE FOR GREAT�ER
MEMBERSHIP TERMS.)
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois on
or about October 21, 1969, by Ordinance, established a Betterment
Commission in and for said City ; and,
WHEREAS, said Ordinance limited the consecutive terms a member
thereof could serve ; and,
WHEREAS, it now appears to �he best interests of the City of
Canton, I111nO1s that this provision should now be modif ied to permit
service for a greater number of aonsecutive terms,
N OW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS AS FOLLOWS :
That the third sentence of subparagraph (a) under Section
(1) entitled "Composition" of said Ordinance No. 282 be and the same
hereby is amended to read as follows :
"No person may serve as a member of the Commission
for more than four consecutive terms. "
That, in all other respects, said Ordinance No. 282 is hereby
ratif ied and conf irmed.
That this Ordinance be in effect upon its passage by the City
Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and approval by the Mayor
thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois
and approved by the Mayor thereof this lst day of May, A.D. 1973.
