AN ORDINANCE AMIIVDING AN ORDINANCE (No. 259) PERTAINING TO LICENSIlVG
AND CONTROLLING DOGS.
WHEREAS, the City of Canton� Illinois has heretofore passed
Ordinance No. 259 (an Ordinance pertaining to licensing and controlling
dogs) ; and,
WHEREAS� too often said Ordinance has been taken lightly and
many times ignored ; and ,
WHEREAS , it is thought by the corporate authorities of the
City of Canton, Illinois that said Ordinance would be better observed
if the penalty provisions thereof were made more stringent ,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT AND IT HEREBY IS ORDAINED BY THE CITY
COUNCTL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS AS FOLLOWS :
Section l. That Section 14 of said Ordinance No. 259 be� and
the same hereby is, amended to read as follows :
"Section 14. PFNALTY. Any person who shall violate any
of the provisions of this Ordinance shall, upon conviction,
be subject to a fine of not less than �25.00 nor more
than �100.00 for each offense. "
Section 2. That this amendatory Ordinance shall be in effect
ten days after its passage by the City Council and approval by the
Mayor� and publication according to law.
