�An Ordinance pro�iding for a municipal use tax)
BE IT ORDAII�D BY 2HE CITY COUNCTL OF THE CITY OF CANTON�ILLINOIS:
Section 1. A tax is hereby imposed in accordance with the provisions of
Section 8-11-6 of the Illinois Municipal �ode upon the privilege of using in
the municipality any item of t4ngible personal property which is purchased
outside Illinois at retail from a retailer� and which is titled or registered
with an agency of Illinois government. The tax shall be at a rate of l�d of
the selling price of such tangible property with selling price to have the
meaning as defined in the Uae Tax Act, approved July 14, 1955•
Section 2. Such tax shall be eollected by the Illinois Department of
Revenu� for all municipalities imposing the tax and shall be paid before the
title or certificate of registration for the personal property is issued.
Section 3• The city clerk is hereby directed to transmit to the Illinois
Department of Revenue a certitied copy of this ordinance not later than 5 days
after its effective date.
Section 4, This ordinance shall be published within ten (10) days of its
enactment as proeided in Section 1-2-4 of the Illinois Municipal Code and shall
be effective ten (10) days after such publication.
