OF
(AN ORDINANCE Pi�OHIBITING "II TU�NS" ON CERTAIN PGnTIONS/FIFTH AVENTTE,
LOCUST STREET AND MAIN STREET, IN THE CITY OF Cr'1NTON, ILLINOIS.)
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1� Definitions:
For the purpose hereof the phrase "U turn" shall mean and refer to the
oper�tion of a motor vehicle whereby the driver thereof when proceeding in
one direction on a particular street, changes the course of such vehicle
within the curb lines of such street, and so as to thereby proceed in the
opposite direction on such str�et.
SECTION 2: That no motor vehicle shall be operated in such a manner
as to make or execute a "U turn" on Fifth Avenue between Pine and Locust
Streets in the City of Canton, Illinois.
SECTION 3: That no raotor vehicle shall be operated in such a manner
as to make or execute a '�U turn" on Locust Stre�t between Fifth Avenue
and Avenue B in the City of Canton, Illinois.
SECTION 4: That na motor vehicle shall be operated in such a manner
as to make or execute a "U turn" on Main 8treet between Locust and Ash
Streets in the City of Canton, Illinois.
SECTION 5: That appropriate authorities of this City shall post
appropriate signs informing persons of this ordinance.
SECTION 6: That any person who shall be convicted of a violation of
any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be punished by a fine not
less than �5.04 and not more than �200.00.
SECTIOI� 7: This Ordinance shall be in effect ten days after its
passage by the Couneil, approval by the Mayor and 1:ublication according
to law.
