(An Ordinance adopting certain Codes for t.he City of Canton, Illinois)
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF TNE CITY OF G^tiTON, ILLINOIS:
Section 1. That the Uniform Building Code (as published or sanctioned
by the International Conference of �uil�ing Officials) , as the same nocv exists
or may hereafter be modified, be and the same hereby is adopted as the Building
Co�e of this City.
Section 2. That the Uniform Fire Code (as published or sanctioned by the
International Conference of Buildin� Officials) , as the sa.me now exists or may
hereafter be modified, be and the sar�e hereby is adopted as the Fire Code of
this City.
Section 3. That the Uniform Mechanical Code (as published or sanctioned
by the Internatiomal Conference of Building Officials) , as the same now exists
or may hereafter be modified, be and the same hereby is adopted as the Mechanical
Code of this City.
Section 4. That the Uniform Housi.nc� Code (as published or sanctioned by
the International Conference of 3�ilding Officials) , as the same now exists or
may hereafter be modified, be and the same hereby is adopted as the Housing Code
of this City.
Section 5. That the Uniform Code For The Abatement Of Dangerous Buildings
(as published or sanctioned by the International Conference of Building Officials) ,
as the same now exists or may hereafter be modified, be and the same hereby is
adopted as the "Dangerous Buildings" Code of this City.
Section 6. That the Uniform Plumbing Code (as published or sanctioned by
the In±ernational Conference of Building Officials) , as the same now exists or
may hereafter be modified, be and the same hereby is adopted as the Plubming Code
of this City, PROVIDED, H04VEVER, : Plastic pipe, tubing,&fittings for potable
water piping shall be constructed in conformance with the Illinois State Plumbing
Code 1969. Plastic pipe, tubing and fittings may be used in the potable water
piping system in accordance with Illinois State Reg��lations. Plastic pipe shall
not be used in a hot tvater system. Plastic pipe used in a cold water systezn
inside a building shall be of Schedule 40 through 4 inch nor.iinal size and shall
have a mz.nimum pressure of 200 psi. at 73.4° F. Outside cold water systems shall
be constructed with type K copper pipe.
Section 7. That the National Electrical Code (as published or sanctioned
by the National Fire Protection Association) , as the same now exists or may here-
after be modified, be and the same hereby is adopted as the Electrical Code of
this City.
Section 8. That variances from specific provisions of the Codes herein
adopted may be �ermitted an appeal to the Appeal Committee appointed by this
Council shot?ld such Committee, after hearin5; determine that variance is necessary
to alleviate undu� hardship and will not adversely effect the health, safety, or
welfare of the occupant of the applicable building or of any other persan.
Section 9. That no manfifacturing company which routinely employs skilled
technicians shall be required to obtain any ��ermit otherwise required by any of
the Codes herein adopted for the routine performance of work by them on the
premises of such company.
Section 10. That the various Codes herein adopted and as they now exist
in book or printed form are hereby declared published (for the purgose of this
Ordinance) and shall be placed permanently on file with the City Clerk of this
City.
Sectionll. That this Ordinance shall be infull force and effect upan
its passage by the City Council and approval by the Mayor.
