� AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 6 (POLICE REGULATIONS)
CHAPTER 17 (CITY CURFEW) SECTION 1 (RESTRICTIONS)
WHEREAS, Ordinance 1795 was adopted on May 4, 2004, which provided restrictions
on the curfew for some persons under the age of seventeen (17) within the city limits of Canton,
Illinois, excluding those fifteen (15) years of age;
WHEREAS, Ordinance 1795 was codified and adopted as part of the Canton Municipal
Code at Title 6 (Police Regulations),Chapter 17 (City Curfew) Section 1 (Restrictions);
WHEREAS, the Legal & Ordinance Committee has determined that it is in the best
interest of the citizens of Canton, Illinois, to amend Title 6 (Police Regulations) Chapter 17 (City
Curfew) Section (Restrictions) to provide a City curfew for all persons under seventeen (17(A)
& (B)) years of age; and
WHEREAS,the Legal and Ordinance Committee has reviewed the proposed amendment
and concur that it is necessary and in the best interest of the administration of the City of Canton,
its employees and citizens;
WHEREAS, the City Council has made a similar determination.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the Mayor and the City Council for the city
of Canton, Illinois, as follows:
1. That Title 6 (Police Regulations), Chapter 17 (City Curfew) Section 1 (Restrictions)
of the Canton Municipal Code shall be amended insofar as Section 6-17-1 is
concerned as follows:
6-17-1: RESTRICTIONS
(A) It is unlawful in the City of Canton for a person less than (17) years of age to
be present at or upon any public assembly, building, place, street, parking lot,
alley, park or highway at the following times:
1. On Saturdays, between 12:01 A.M. and 6:00 A.M.
2. On Sundays, between 12:01 A.M. and 6:00 A.M.
3. Every day, Sunday through Thursday between 11:00 P.M. and 6:00 A.M.
the following day.
2. Section B is hereby deleted.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and approved by the Mayor
thereof this 20t" day of May, 2014, upon a roll call vote as follows:
