Meetina Date: December 12, 2013
Present: Susan Walters, John Favorita, Roy Richardson (Sexton) and Barb Ranallo. The meeting
was called to order at 9:00 AM.
Old Business
"The November 13, 2013 minutes were read and approved. Copies of the minutes will be sent to
Mayor Jeffrey Fritz, City Treasurer Kathy Luker, City Clerk Diana Pavley-Rock, Community Services
Director Jason Strandberg and Administrative Assistant Carol Kohler.
"We looked at the new deeds. More information (section, tier and elevation) needs to be included on
the deeds to the mausoleum before being recorded at the courthouse. Also, after folded they bleed
to the other sides. Roy will take an old deed from the mausoleum book to the city clerk.
"'We have not heard from the Cleers' or Nancy Rabel, city attorney, about the Isaac Swan
Monument.
New Business
"The Greenwood Cemetery Financial Statements prepared by Hocker & Fitzjarrald, P.C. were
distributed. The balance as of November 30, 2013 was $48,382.96.
*Roy distributed his monthly report for November 2013.
-There were four burials.
-There were four burials of ashes.
-There was one grave sold.
-A new probe was purchased for$25.95 from Farm King.
-Two bids — one for the fence and one for two damaged stones were acquired from the
accident on November 28, 2013. Jarvis Welding will repair the fence for $1,300.00. Brown
Monument will make two new granite monument makers for $250.00 to replace the old
sandstone ones that were damaged. The names and dates had been washed away on the
old sandstone ones. Brown Monument will put new information on the granite ones.
-The cemetery is in need of two new flags. Susan will place an order for them.
*As of December 1, 2013 the cost to record Cemetery Deeds will go up to$70.00 ($60.00 for
municipalities)for the first four pages. The cemetery was paying only$46.00 and charging $65.00.
Therefore, the Greenwood Cemetery Board voted -effective December 1, 2013 we will charge
customers$80.00 for recording of their deeds. In addition a new form called Affidavit for Purpose of
IL Plat Act Requirements must be attached to the back of each deed recorded. The surrounding
funeral homes will be notified.
`Susan signed an agreement with Hocker& Fitzjarrald, P.C. to do Greenwood Cemetery accounting
for the year of 2014, which was approved.
*A Christmas bonus was approved for Roy.
*The City of Canton will reimburse Greenwood Cemetery for over payment of the loan to IMRF. This
will be refunded after it has gone to the council.
*Roy's pay increase compensates his union dues.
"It was decided not to meet in January unless there is an emergency. The next board meeting will be
held February 6, 2014 at the cemetery office at 9:00 AM. Barb will contact Larry Eskridge of the
meeting change.
With no further business the meeting was adjourned at 10:15 AM.
