COMMITTEE MEMBERS PRESENT:
Community Services Director Jason Strandberg, Street Superintendent Danny Dare, Public Works
Director Bill Terry, WWTP Superintendent Joe Carruthers, Fire Chief Tom Shubert, WTP Superintendent
Greg Pollitt, City Clerk Diana Pavley-Rock
SAFETY MANUAL
Sally was present at the meeting to make a few suggestions to the safety manual as it is in the process of
being prepared. Currently the safety manual has too many areas that do not pertain to all employees. It
was recommended to have a safety manual that would pertain to every employee on general safety
procedures. There could be a department manual within each department that would be more specific
to each individual department.
It was suggested that the purpose would include the following areas:
� Safety Policy Statement
• Accident Report procedures
• Responsibilities----specifics on who is responsible
• General Safety Rules
It was suggested that under Safety Communication the following would be included:
• Executive Safety Committee
• Safety Orientation
Sally also suggested creating sub-committees that could help create and review separate sections of the
manual.
INJURY REPORTS
5 new injuries were reported since the last safety meeting. Below are the names and nature of accident
1. Diana Pavley-Rock(Admin) 10-14-2013 Pulled back while lifting heavy boxes
2. Ryan Demott(Police) 10-30-2013 K-9 ran inside from rain and knocked
Ryan Demott to the floor injuring his lower back
3. Mike Walker(Police) 11-18-2013 While running stumbled and fell onto
the roadway. Injured right ankle and left forearm/wrist/elbow
4. Dustin Pollitt(Police) 11-28-2013 Running after a fleeing suspect,tackled
fleeing suspect and hit right elbow on the ground.
5. Dan Taylor(Police) 12-25-2013 While checking on property he slipped
on the ice and fell forward hitting right elbow on the ice covered ground.
Sally suggested that Bill Terry schedule some training for public works during the month of May and
some training be scheduled this Spring for administration (lifting, posture etc.)
