WHEREAS, the City of Canton has a finite natural water supply; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Canton water plant has limited capacity; and,
WHEREAS, serving any additional areas other than the City of Canton and areas within
1'/z miles of its city boundaries would create an adverse situation for the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows:
1. That no further consumers shall be added by extensions of the water supply
system of any community to which the City of Canton currently supplies water except to
new customers -residents within such communities, i.e. there shall be no extensions of
water lines from the contracting communities to any consumers outside the normal
boundaries of those communities. Further, all annexations of territory by such receiving
communities must be approved for service by the Canton City Council before there be
any extension of water service to such added territories. Any unauthorized extension of
water lines by any contracting community shall be basis for discontinuance of the basic
water service and/or an increase in rates for such community at the option of the City
Council of the City of Canton.
2. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage by
the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois and approval by the Mayor
thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, at a regular
meeting this 16th day of May , 2000, upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: A1deYtmPxi May, Shores, Nidiffer, Phillips, Sarff, Hartford.
NAYS: None .
ABSENT: Aldermen Meade, Nblleck.
