AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A NO PARKING SIGN IN THE 200-300 BLOCK OF
NORTH 11th AVENUE PROHIBITING PARKING ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE STREET
FROM ASH STREET TO LOCUST STREET, IN THE CITY OF CANTON, FULTON
COUNTY,ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee has determined that due to the amount of
traffic and the offset four(4)way stop, it is necessary and in the best interests of the citizens of Canton,
Illinois to place a no parking signs in the 200-300 blocks of North 11th Avenue, prohibiting parking on
the west side of the street, from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m., on days when school is in session, from Ash
Street to Locust Street in the City of Canton, Illinois, and to mark the curb yellow on North 11th
Avenue, south of Ash Street for 100 feet; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has made a similar determination.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows:
1. That no parking signs shall be placed on the east side of the street in the 200-300 blocks of
North l ltn Avenue between Ash Street to Locust Street stating that from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
on days when school is in session there shall be no parking, and that every driver of a motor
vehicle will refrain from parking any vehicle under his or her control in said area.
2. That the west curb of North 1 Avenue from Ash Street, south, 100 feet, shall be painted
yellow and prohibit parking and that every driver of a motor vehicle will refrain from parking
any vehicle under his or her control in said area.
3. That any person who violates this Ordinance shall, upon conviction or plea, be subject to a fine
of not less than Five dollars ($5.00) nor more than Twenty-Five dollars ($25.00) for each such
offense.
4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days after its passage by the City
Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, approval by the Mayor thereof, and
publication in pamphlet form as provided by law.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting this
15th day of October, 2013 upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Pasley,Lovell, Ellis,Justin Nelson, Pickel,Jim Nelson, Putrich,West
