RESOLUTION NO. 3584
A RESOLUTION HONORING SERVICE TO THE CITY OF CANTON,
FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS, Donald E. Edwards served as Mayor, City of Canton, Illinois May
5, 1981 -May 1, 2001, and;
WHEREAS, his administration inaugurated the following programs,
*Televised council meetings on Channel 14
* 12-inch 1755 foot deep wells (2)
*Clean Lakes Program C.M.&T.
*Eliminate Surcharge of sewers, N. Main & 4`"
*Vandewalle -Comprehensive Plan IH
*Downtown Impr. Lighting & new Sidewalks
*Sale of Fulton Square to R.E.R. Enterprise
*State's first Enterprise Zone
*Four faced Millennium Clock for Jones Park
*Brownfields Pilot Program for IH site
*Improvements to Lake Canton & Water Plant
*Recyling Program
*Prison on 100 acres donated by City
*Dewater Sludge $1.8 million
* W. Walnut Sewer Project
*HHS Loan Fund of $1,000,000
*Designation of AMEREN In Site
*Cleanup of IH site by U.S.E.P.A.
*Depot used City Council meetings
*Norwest Bank for City Hall/Police
*3/4 million dollar overlay program
*336 Coalition
WHEREAS, the following members and officers served with him in 2001.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, that the City of Canton expresses
sincere appreciation for twenty years of dedicated service as mayor, and extends special
thanks for tireless efforts in obtaining these many programs and contributions that will
benefit this city for many years.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, at
their regular meeting this 3~ day of July_2001.
