ORDINANCE N0.3012
An Ordinance Annexing Certain Territory to the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois
(2108 North Main Street/Linda J. Williams).
WHEREAS, the territory hereinafter described, is situated in unincorporated territory
adjacent and contiguous to the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, and is part of the
Buckhart Fire Protection District, Canton Township and the Parlin Ingersoll Library District; and
WHEREAS, a notice was given to the Trustee of said Fire Protection District, the Board of
Township Trustees and the Library Board, said notices being mailed on February 7, 2013, stating
that this Ordinance would be voted upon at a regular meeting of the City Council at 6:30 p. m.,
on Tuesday, Apri12, 2013; and
WHEREAS, a written Petition signed by the sole owner of record and only elector residing
therein, as all land within such territory has been filed with the City Clerk of the City of Canton,
Illinois requesting annexation thereof to the City of Canton; and
WHEREAS, the territory to be annexed will be zoned R-2, Single Family; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined by the Planning and Zoning Commission and the City
Council of the City of Canton, Illinois, that said Petition complies with all the requirements of
the law therefore; and
WHEREAS, the majority of the corporate authorities are of the opinion that it is in the best
interests of the people of the City of Canton, Illinois, that said territory be annexed to and made
part of said City.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Corporate Authorities of the City of Canton,
Illinois, as follows:
Section 1: THAT the following described real estate, be and the same is hereby annexed to
the City of Canton, Illinois:
Part of the Southeast Quarter of Section 10, Township 7 North, Range 4 East of the Fourth
Principal Meridian, being more particularly described as follows:
Commencing at the Southeast Corner of Section 10, thence South 89 degrees 09 minutes 59
seconds West 1490 feet, thence North 147.08 feet to the Westerly right of way of Illinois State
Route 78 marked by an existing iron pin, being the point of beginning of the tract to be described;
thence bearing South 88 degrees 59 minutes 13 seconds West a distance of 396 feet to an existing
iron pin; thence bearing North 1 degree 00 minutes 44 seconds West a distance of 212.74 feet to
an existing iron pin; thence South 89 degrees 26 minutes 00 seconds West a distance of 236.62
feet to an existing iron pin, being West of the line of the Southeast Quarter of the Southwest
Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of Section 10; thence South along said line to the South line of
Section 10; thence Easterly along said South line a distance of 631.62 feet, more or less, to the
Westerly right of way of Illinois State Route 78, and thence Northeasterly along said right of way
to the point of beginning. Situated in Fulton County, Illinois.

Section 2: THAT the City Clerk is hereby authorized and directed to record in the Recorders' Office
of Fulton County, Illinois, a certified copy of this Ordinance, together with the accurate map of the
territory herein above described.
Section 3: THAT the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Canton, Illinois, and the Zoning Map of the
City of Canton, Illinois, are hereby amended to classify the real property herein annexed as R-2, Single
Family.
Section 4: THAT to avoid uncertainty regarding public safety responsibilities concerning the
property herein annexed, this Ordinance shall take effect at noon on the ] S` day of May, 2013, following
its passage by the Canton City Council.
