HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution #3640RESOLUTION NO. 3640 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY OF CANTON TO APPLY FOR UNITED STATES ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY BROWNFIELD ASSESSMENT AND CLEANUP FUNDS TO CONTINUE THE BROWNFIELDS INITIATIVE AT THE FORMER INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER COMPANY SITE IN CANTON WHEREAS, the City of Canton has heretofore received assistance from the United States Environmental Protection Agency concerning the former IHC plant site in the city of Canton; and WHEREAS, additional funds may be available to the extend of $300,000 in an Assessment Grant, and $200,000 in a Cleanup Grant from the United States Environmental Protection Agency Brownfields Program regarding said project in the city; and WHEREAS, the City of Canton would greatly benefit from the acquisition of said funs or either of them; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City of Council of the City of Canton, Illinois that the staff of the city be and is hereby authorized to apply for said funds to further the Brownfields Initiative at the site of the former I.H.C. plant.
