A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING OUT-OF-STATE IMRF SERVICE CREDIT FOR CITY
ADMINISTRATOR JAMES W. SNIDER
WHEREAS, the City of Canton participates in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund;
And
WHEREAS, pursuant to the rules and regulations governing the Illinois Municipal
Retirement Fund, member governmental bodies may authorize out-of-state service credit for
employees who formerly worked for local governmental units in another state and participated in
the public employee pension system of that state, but have now irrevocably forfeited their rights
to a benefit from that pension system; and
WHEREAS, the individual member employee is responsible for payment to IMRF of
contributions and interest as calculated by IMRF in order to obtain such out-of-state service
credit; and
WHEREAS, the City Administrator, James W. Snider, formerly worked for a unit of local
government in the State of West Virginia and participated in a public employee pension system
of that state, but has now irrevocably forfeited all rights to a benefit from that pension system;
and
WHEREAS, the City Administrator, James W Snider, was employed by the out-of-state
governmental unit from Apri12008 to July 2009 (16 months); and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of
Canton to authorize out-of-state service credit in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund for the
City Administrator, James W. Snider, for the period of time he was employed by an out-of-state
governmental unit as described herein.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF
CANTON, ILLINOIS:
SECTION ONE: That the City of Canton does hereby authorize out-of-state service
credit in the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund for the period of time the City Administrator,
James W. Snider, was employed by a unit of local government in the State of West Virginia for
16 months from April 2008 to July 2009.
SECTION TWO: That any and all payments to IMRF in order to obtain such out-of-state
service credit shall be the responsibility of the City Administrator, James W. Snider.
SECTION THREE: That the City Clerk be and she is hereby authorized and directed to
execute the Out-of-State Credit Authorization Form 6.33 attached hereto and incorporated herein
by reference.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and approved by the Mayor thereof
this 18th day of December, 2012, upon a roll call vote as follows:
