AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE DEFINITION OF "YEAR" OF SECTION 1 OF
CHAPTER 22 (ALARM SYSTEMS) OF TITLE 3(BUSINESS REGULATIONS) OF THE
CANTON MUNICIPAL CODE
WHEREAS, Section 1 of Chapter 22 (Alarm Systems) of Title 3(Business Regulations)
defines the word "Year" as being January 1 through December 31 for licensing requirements for alarm
systems within the City of Canton; and
WHEREAS, other City licenses have a renewal period consistent with the City's fiscal year,
which is May 1 through Apri130, annually; and
WHEREAS, to make the license renewals consistent, the Legal and Ordinance Committee has
determined that it is necessary and in the best interests of the City to amend the current definition of
"Year" from a calendar year to the City's fiscal year;
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined the same.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois, as
follows:
That the Definition of "Year" of Section 1 Chapter 22 (Alarm Systems) of Title 3(Business
Regulations) is hereby amended to read as follows:
YEAR: A period beginning da~ M~ 1 and continuing through ~ese~ber~-~ A rp il 30.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois and approved by the Mayor thereof this 4
day of December, 2012, upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Pickel, Hartford, Pasley, West, Ellis, Nelson
NAYS: None ~
