Minutes /discussion points of safety meeting, taken by Joe Carruthers
Meeting was held at Canton City Hall, Chairman Fire Chief Keith Franks presiding,
In Attendance,,, Chairman Keith Franks, Greg Pollitt Water, Joe Carruthers Wastewater, Bill Terry public
works, Assistant Chief of police Rick Nichols.
Meetin~ called to order at 8:30 am.
The agenda had three items; NIMS compliance, IDOL requirements, Safety manual
? Chief Franks provided all in attendance with a hand-out which detailed the different levels and
courses associated with NIMS. Discussion and debate followed regarding what departments
were in compliance and what responsible levels department heads were.. Greg told Chief Franks
his department was fully tested, Joe Carruthers the same. The police department also was
compliant. Bill mentioned he had a few yet to test.
? Chief Franks asked all in attendance about receiving E-Mails from Sally regarding training
workshops. As not everyone in attendance received the e-mails, it was agreed upon that Chief
Franks would resend the training list to all parties. Greg Pollitt mentioned that he thought it
would be best if Sally was to come back to each individual department and do a reasements of
training. Chief Franks said it is our responsibility to request her to come to Canton.
? The last agenda item discussed was the safety manual e-mailed to all on 9/18/2012. Discussion
regarding the request to review the document was dismissed as the document was not the
latest correct version. A correct version was to be sent out by Chief Franks for review again.
Discussion was also added that provides for the agenda of safety meetings 2 weeks prior to the
meeting, and starting times for future safety meetings at 10:00 am. This time has been approved by City
Manager Jim Snider.
