HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #1663*~ ORDINANCE NO. 1663 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING A STOP SIGN AT THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF SYCAMORE STREET AND FIFTH AVENUE FOR WEST BOUND TRAFFIC ON SYCAMORE WHEREAS, the Public Safety and Traffic Committee of the Canton City Council has determined that a visibility problem exists for drivers approaching Fifth Avenue from the East on Sycamore Street. West bound motorists looking South on Fifth Avenue have their visibility blocked by large trees on the terrace. The trees aze healthy and should not be removed. Accordingly, it is necessary, desirable and in the best interest of the City of Canton to place a stop sign at the Northeast corner of Sycamore Street and Fifth Avenue for West bound traffic on Sycamore; and, WHEREAS, the Canton City Council has made a similar determination. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows: 1. That the City Council hereby finds the foregoing recitals to be fact. 2. That a stop sign shall be erected for West bound traffic on Sycamore Street at Fifth Avenue. 3. That all ordinances, or portions of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance aze hereby rescinded and repealed. 4. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days after its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, approval by the Mayor thereof, and publication in pamphlet form as provided by law. 5. That the Street Superintendent shall cause the appropriate stop sign to be posted. ~' PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 18~ay of July , 2000, upon a roll call vote as follows: AYES: Aldeztnen Molleck , Hartford, Sarff , Phillips , Nidiffer, Meade, Shores, May.
