AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 4, CHAPTER i, SECTION i OF THE
CANTON MUNICIPAL CODE
WHEREAS, there appears to be no generic penalty clause for violation of the
adopted building codes; and,
WHEREAS, an overall penalty clause should be contained in the ordinance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois as follows:
1. That the City Council hereby finds the foregoing recitals to be fact.
2. That Title 4, Chapter 1, Section 1 shall be amended to read as follows:
"4-1-1: PENALTY: Any person violating any of the codes set forth in
part (B) of this Section shall be fined not less than one hundred dollars
{$100.00) nor more than five hundred dollars ($500.00) for each offense;
and a separate offense shall be deemed committed on each day during or
on which a violation occurs or continues."
3. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its
passage by the City Council of the City of Canton and approved by the Mayor thereof
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a
regular meeting this 16th day of May , 2000.
AYES: Aldermen May, Shores, Nidiffer, Phillips, Sarff, Hartford.
NAYS: None.
ABSENT: Aldermen. Meade, Molleck.
