HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #1713ORDINANCE No. 1713 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE MANNER OF SALE OF CERTAIN REAL PROPERTY OWNED BY THE CITY OF CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS. WHEREAS, the City of Canton has become the owner of record of a certain parcel of real property hereinafter described; and, WHEREAS, The Canton City Council has determined that the real property hereinafter described is no longer necessary, appropriate, required for the use of, profitable to, or for the best interest of the City of Canton. WHEREAS, The City of Canton has undertaken a program for the reconstruction and redevelopment of a Redevelopment Area known as the Central Business District; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCII, OF THE CITY OF CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS AS FOLLOWS: 1. That the real property presently owned by the City of Canton, being commonly known as 67 East Elm Street, Canton, Illinois, and legally described as follows, to wit: The East 92 feet of the following tract: Forty-six (46) feet and ten (10) inches offthe south side of Lot Number Fourteen (14) in Jones' First Addition to the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois. Be let for the sale of such property under the direction of the City of Canton, by and with the advice of the City Attorney, and in the conformity with the laws of the State of Illinois and the Ordinances of the City of Canton thereto appertaining. 2. That public notice of the foregoing proposed sale and advertisement for proposals for the described property shall be as by law made and provided. 3. That the use of the foregoing parcel of real estate is determined by reference to the City of Canton's zoning ordinance and map, as the same may be from time to time amended. 4. Conveyance of title to any successful bidder shall be by a quit-claim deed. 5. The City of Canton shall show merchantable title to any successful bidder by a commitment to insure title in the amount of the purchase price, followed by a title insurance policy after closing the transaction. 6. The City of Canton reserves the right to reject any and all proposals of the described real property. 7. Written proposals for the development of the described property and bid shall be submitted to the City Clerk, at City Hall, 210 E. Chestnut Street, Canton, Illinois on or before Decemberl8, 2001 at 5:00 o'clock p.m. local time. Late proposals and bids will not be considered. All proposals shall be opened at the regular City Council Meeting December 18, 2001. 8. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and in effect immediately upon its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois and approval by the Mayor thereof. NAYS: None, ABSENT: Alderman Nidiffer, APPROVED: Je M. ohler, Mayor ATTEST: -~~/~~1~ Nancy Whites, City Clerk LEGAL NOTICE INVITATION FOR PROPOSALS FOR SALE OF REAL PROPERTY Public Notice is hereby given as follows: The City of Canton has undertaken a program for the reconstruction and redevelopment of a Redevelopment Area known as the Central Business District; and is the owner of the following real property commonly known as 67 East Elm Street, Canton, Illinois and legally described as: The East 92 feet of the following tract: Forty-six (46) feet and ten (10) inches off the south side of Lot Number Fourteen (14) in Jones' First Addition to the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois. The City of Canton invites written proposals and bids for the development of said property. All written proposals must be received by the City Clerk, 210 E. Chestnut Street by 5:00 p.m. December 18, 2001. Proposals and bids will be read at the regular City Council Meeting December 18, 2001 at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at the Historic Depot.
