AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING PARKING OF VEHICLES
ON ILLINOIS ROUTE 9/ ILLINOIS ROUTE 78
IN THE CITY OF CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, the City of Canton, hereinafter known as the CITY, and the State of
Illinois, acting by and through its Department of Transportation, have entered into an
Agreement relative to the improvement of Illinois Route 9/Illinois Route 78 (Fifth
Avenue) within the City of Canton; and
WHEREAS, in order to facilitate said improvement, it is necessary for the CITY
to adopt an ordinance prohibiting parking within the limits of the improvement on Illinois
Route 9/ Illinois Route 78 (Fifth Avenue);
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED, by the City Council and the City of
Canton, Fulton County, Illinois:
1. Any person, firm, or corporation violating this ordinance shall be fined
not less than Five Dollars ($5.00) for each offense, and a separate
offense shall be deemed committed for each and every day, which a
violation continues or exists. In addition to the fines set out in this
Section, any member of the City Council is hereby authorized to have
any offending vehicle removed from this area designated as a no
parking azea and said expense for the removal shall be paid by the
person found guilty of the offense in addition to the fines set forth
above.
2. This ordinance shall be published one time within ten days after its
passage in a newspaper having a general circulation in the City of
Canton, Illinois, and shall be in full force and effect after its passage,
publication, and approval as provided by law.
PASSED: by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, at a
regular meeting this 16th3ay of October , 2001, upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Molleck, Hartford, Sarff, West, Nidiffer,
Meade, Shores, Fillingham
NAYES: None
