AN ORDINANCE GRANTING A SPECIAL USE PERMIT FOR THE OPERATION OF A
PROFESSIONAL OFFICE AT 544 NORTH MAIN STREET, CANTON, ILLINOIS.
WHEREAS, it appears to the City Council of the City of Canton, Illinois, that the territory
hereinafter described as located within the corporate limits of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois;
and
WHEREAS, a petition was filed by the Fulton-Mason Crisis Service as the owner of real property
requesting a special use permit for use of the property as a professional office, specifically the
professional office would permit the Fulton-Mason Crisis Service to operate a visitation center which
would include a centralized pick-up and drop-off for visitation, supervised visitations site and parenting
classes; and
WHEREAS, notice of a petition for a special use permit in an R4 zoning configuration was
published in the Canton Daily Ledger, a newspaper of regular circulation in the City of Canton, County of
Fulton, State of Illinois, on March 7, 2012, all in accordance with the Statute of the State of Illinois and
ordinances of the City of Canton so made and provided; and
WHEREAS, no objectors appeared at said hearing set before the Planning and Zoning
Commission, on April 10, 2012, and a favorable recommendation to operate a child visitation center
under special use permit was therefore made.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILINOIS, AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Council of the City of Canton, County of Fulton, Illinois, hereby finds the facts of
the aforegoing recitals to be fact.
2. That a special use permit for a professional office at 544 North Main Street, Canton, Illinois,
61520, as described herein on the attached Exhibit A, shall be, and the same is hereby issued to the
Fulton-Mason Crisis Service.

3. That the appropriate maps, plates and related documents of the City of Canton, shall be and the
same are hereby amended to reflect the foregoing special use permit granted herein.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, and APPROVED BY
THE Mayor thereof this 15 day of Mav, 2012, upon a roll call vote as follows:
AYES: Aldermen Nelson, Ellis, Fritz, Pasley, Schenck, Hartford, Pickel
NAYS: None

A part of Lots 4 and 5, Block Four (4) in Joseph Zwisler's Addition to Canton, Illinois, described
as follows: Commencing at a point 56 feet South of the Northeast corner of said Lot 4 in said
addition; running thence West 99.5 feet; thence South 45 feet; thence West 28.5 feet; thence South
20 feet; then East 128 feet; thence North 65 feet to the Place of the Beginning.
