Edwards Way-50 North 4th Avenue, Canton, Illinois 61520. The motion carried by voice vote and was unanimous. COMMITTEE REPORTS: PUBLIC SAFETY & TRAFFIC - ALDERMAN JIM HARTFORD, CHAIRMAN Police Department Carpetin~ The carpeting is the original carpeting from 2001 and has sustained heavy traffic that has caused it to become warn. A bid from Melgreen's furniture was received in the amount of $4500.00. A bid from Crawford's furniture was received in the amount of $4290.00. Chief Taylor recommends going with the low bid of $4290.00 from Crawford's furniture. Motion and second were made by Aldermen Hartford/Pickel to approve the bid from Crawford's furniture in the amount of $4290.00 for carpeting in the police department. Fire Department Repairs The request being presented by the fire department is to fix some of the bricks that have become loose and then try to waterproof or seal the building. Permission is being requested to receive bids for the project. Motion and second were made by Aldermen Hartford/Fritz to approve the request to receive bids. Saecial Event License The American Grill submitted an application for a special event license for February 14, 2012 from 5:OOpm and 7:OOpm. The event will allow the restaurant to serve one glass of champaign to each customer. The special event is a fundraiser for FCRC. Motion and second were made by Aldermen Hartford/Ellis to approve the special event license for the American Grille. The motion carried by voice vote and was unanimous. ~ STREETS AND GARBAGE- ALDERMAN JUSTIN NELSON, CHAIRMAN Nothing for Council Action LAKE, BUILDINGS & GROUNDS - ALDERMAN ERIC SCHENCK, CHAIRMAN Public Works Window Motion and second were made by Aldermen Schenck/Ellis to approve the public works window installation in the amount of $2571.64 by Newburn Construction. PUBLIC WORKS, WATER & SEWER - ALDERMAN GERALD ELLIS, CHAIRMAN APPLICATION FOR PAYMENT NO 3 FROM LEANDER CONSTRUCTION INC. FOR WATER MAIN CONNECTION FOR WELL PROJECTS IN THE AMOUNT OF $2104.75 Motion and second were made by Aldermen Ellis/Nelson to approve the application for payment no 3 from Leander Construction Inc in the amount of $2104.75 ROLL CALL Yes No Absent Alderman Schenck x Alderman Pasley x Alderman Fritz x Alderman West x Alderman Nelson x Alderman Ellis x Alderman Pickel x Alderman Hartford x The motion carried APPLICATION FOR PAYMENT NO 5 FROM LEANDER CONSTRUCTION INC FOR WWTP UV DISINFECTION PROJECT IN THE AMOUNT OF $101557.83 Motion and second were made by Aldermen Ellis/Pickel to excuse Alderman Ellis due to his participation in the project. The motion carried by voice vote and was unanimous. Motion and second were made by Aldermen Nelson/Hartford to approve the application for payment no 5 from Leander Construction Inc for WWTP UV disinfection project in the amount of $101,557.83 from the bond funds. The City has received $320.00 for lights replaced. Future improvements such as pump replacements would help create additional reimbursement. An amount of $30-$40,000 is anticipated. REVISIONS TO THE WWTP ORDINANCE In the near future language will be presented for pretreatment for the WWTP. Part of the NPDES permit and plan requires updates to the ordinance. COMMUNICATIONS FROM MAYOR KEVIN R. MEADE Mayor Meade congratulated recipients of awards presented at the Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner. Dr. Randy Klinedinst- Business person of the year Debbie Rodney-Citizen of the Year Robin Tonkin- Educator of the Year OLD BUSINESS AN ORDINANCE DECLARING SURPLUS REVENUE IN THE CANTON 4-A INDUSTRIAL TIF DISTRICT SPECIAL TAX ALLOCATION FUND AND AUTHORIZING PAYMENT OF THAT SURPLUS REVENUE TO THE FULTON COUNTY TREASURER FOR DISTRIBUTION TO AFFECTED TAXING DISTRICTS.
