ORDINANCE NO. 1734
AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF A 1976 ALEXIS FIRE
APPARATUS OWNED BY THE CITY OF CANTON
WHEREAS, in the opinion of the Canton City Council of the City of Canton it is
no longer necessary or useful to or for the best interests of the City of Canton to retain the
following described property now owned by the City:
1976 Alexis/RPI Fire Appazatus; and,
VIN # D1222FG822115
WHEREAS, In November the City of Canton placed an ad for the sale of the
1976 Fire Apparatus on the web site of Global Emergency Vehicles at no cost to the City
at an advertised price of $14,000. In April the City placed an advertisement with Firetec
Appazatus Sales, a nationwide advertisement group, at a cost of $100 with a 10%
commission chazge; and,
WHEREAS, the City of Canton received a bid from Rural Perry County Fire
Association of Perryville, Missouri for the 1976 Alexis Fire Apparatus for the sum of
$12,000; and,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CANTON CITY
COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows:
i . The foregoing recitals aze incorporated herein as findings of the Canton
City Council.
2. Pursuant to Section 11-76-4 of the Illinois Municipal Code, 65 ILCS S/11-
76-4, the Canton City Council find that the Appazatus, now owned by the
City of Canton, is no longer necessary or useful to the City of Canton and
the best interest of the City of Canton will be served by its sale.
3. The City of Canton advertised with two separate groups the Global
Emergency Vehicles and Firetec Appazatus Sales.
4. Pursuant to said Section 11-76-4, the Mayor be, and he is hereby,
authorized and directed to sell the Alexis Fire Apparatus to the Rural Perry
County Fire Association of Perryville, Missouri for the sum of $12,000.
5. Pursuant to the agreement the City of Canton will pay $1,200 to Firetec
Apparatus Sales.
6. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect immediately upon its
passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois
and approved by the Mayor thereof.
PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a
regular meeting this 6th day of Ault , 2002, upon a roll call vote as
follows:
