HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance #2017ORDINANCE NO 2017 AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING PARKING BY NON-RESIDNTS ON A PORTION OF THE NORTH SIDE OF WEST WALNUT STREET IN THE CITY OF CANTON, FULTON COUNTY, ILLINOIS WHEREAS, the Legal and Ordinance Committee of the Canton City Council has determined it is necessary, desirable and in the best interest of the City of Canton to eliminate parking by non- residents on a portion of the North side of West Walnut Street in the City of Canton now that construction of a new medical facility has occurred at the corner of West Walnut Street and Main Street; and WHEREAS, the City Council has made a similar determination. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CANTON, Fulton County, Illinois, as follows: 1. That the foregoing recitals are hereby found to be fact. 2. That parking is hereby eliminated and prohibited by non-residents on the North side of West Walnut Street for 350 feet east of Martin Avenue in the City of Canton, Illinois. 3. That all ordinances or portions of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby rescinded and repealed. 4. That residents of the area involved shall be able to park in said area provided their vehicles display the designated decal. 5. The Police Department shall, upon request, issue an appropriate identifying decal to residents abutting the area involved in the no parking ban. 6. That the Public Works Director will cause the appropriate sign to be posted. 7. That any person who violates this Ordinance shall, upon conviction or plea, be subject to a fine of not less than Five dollars ($5.00) nor more than Twenty-Five dollars ($25.00) for each such offense. 8. That this Ordinance shall be in full force and effect ten (10) days after its passage by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois, approval by the Mayor thereof, and publication in pamphlet form as provided by law. PASSED by the City Council of the City of Canton, Fulton County, Illinois at a regular meeting this 2nd day of November, 2010 upon a roll call vote as follows: AYES: Aldermen West, Sarff, Reed, Schenck, Hartford, Pickel, Rivero, Ellis NAYS: None ABSENT: None ATTE Diana ,City Clerk ,~ APPROVED: Kevin R.
